Description
Elegant, bite-sized appetizers featuring creamy brie coated in a crunchy almond crust and drizzled with a sweet fig honey glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Crust:
- 1 (8 oz) wheel of brie cheese, chilled
- 1 cup finely chopped almonds
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tbsp fig jam
- 1 tbsp water
- 1/2 tsp fresh thyme leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Cut the chilled brie into 1-inch cubes, discarding the rind if preferred.
- Set up a breading station: place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and chopped almonds in a third.
- Dredge each brie cube in flour, then dip in egg, and finally coat thoroughly with almonds.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry brie bites in batches until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
- In a small saucepan, combine honey, fig jam, and water. Warm over low heat, stirring until smooth. Stir in thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Drizzle the warm fig honey glaze over the almond-crusted brie bites and serve immediately.
