Description

A festive, flaky puff pastry tree filled with vibrant basil pesto and melted cheese, perfect for holiday appetizers or parties.

For the Crust:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup basil pesto
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet into a large rectangle and spread basil pesto evenly over the surface, leaving a 1-inch border.
  3. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the pesto, then season with salt and pepper.
  4. Starting from the long side, tightly roll the pastry into a log. Cut the log in half lengthwise, then twist the two halves together to form a tree shape.
  5. Transfer to the baking sheet, brush with beaten egg, and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and puffed.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving.
