For the Crust:
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1/2 cup basil pesto
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet into a large rectangle and spread basil pesto evenly over the surface, leaving a 1-inch border.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the pesto, then season with salt and pepper.
- Starting from the long side, tightly roll the pastry into a log. Cut the log in half lengthwise, then twist the two halves together to form a tree shape.
- Transfer to the baking sheet, brush with beaten egg, and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden and puffed.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
