Description
Flaky puff pastry puffs filled with sweet caramelized pears and creamy brie, shaped like snowflakes for a festive treat.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Crust:
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 2 ripe pears, peeled and diced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 4 oz brie cheese, rind removed and cubed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add diced pears, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cook, stirring occasionally, until pears are tender and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Roll out puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Use a snowflake-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Place half of the snowflakes on the prepared baking sheet.
- Spoon a small amount of caramelized pears and a cube of brie onto the center of each snowflake base. Brush edges with egg wash, then top with remaining snowflake shapes, pressing edges to seal.
- Brush tops with egg wash. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until puffed and golden. Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.
