For the Crust:
- 1 (8 oz) wheel of brie cheese
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- Fresh thyme for garnish
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Cut the brie wheel into 8 equal wedges.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder and paprika.
- Dredge each brie wedge in flour, then dip in egg, and finally coat evenly with the panko mixture.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Fry the brie wedges for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In a small saucepan, warm the honey and red pepper flakes over low heat for 2-3 minutes to infuse.
- Arrange the crispy brie on a serving plate, drizzle with hot honey, and garnish with fresh thyme.
