Description

A decadent appetizer featuring creamy brie cheese, fried to golden perfection and drizzled with spicy-sweet hot honey.

For the Crust:

  • 1 (8 oz) wheel of brie cheese
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • Fresh thyme for garnish

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Cut the brie wheel into 8 equal wedges.
  2. Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder and paprika.
  3. Dredge each brie wedge in flour, then dip in egg, and finally coat evenly with the panko mixture.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  5. Fry the brie wedges for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. In a small saucepan, warm the honey and red pepper flakes over low heat for 2-3 minutes to infuse.
  7. Arrange the crispy brie on a serving plate, drizzle with hot honey, and garnish with fresh thyme.
