For the Crust:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add milk, egg, and vanilla extract, then whisk until smooth.
- Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan to 375°F (190°C).
- Using a small spoon or piping bag, drop small dollops of batter into the hot oil.
- Fry for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown, then drain on paper towels.
- Dust with powdered sugar while warm and serve immediately.
