Description

A decadent chocolate cake perfect for any celebration, featuring rich layers and a delicious ganache topping.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined. Then stir in the boiling water until a smooth batter is formed.
  4. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow cakes to cool completely.
  5. For the ganache, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until it starts to simmer, then pour over the chocolate chips in a bowl. Stir until smooth and glossy. Let it cool slightly before pouring over the cake.
