A decadent, no-bake dessert that layers the rich flavors of caramel, chocolate, and shortbread in a lasagna-style treat.

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups crushed shortbread cookies
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup whipped cream for topping

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Mix crushed shortbread cookies with melted butter and press into the bottom of a 9×13 inch dish to form the base layer.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, and unsalted butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened (about 10 minutes). Stir in vanilla extract and pour over the shortbread layer.
  3. Melt chocolate chips with heavy cream in a double boiler or microwave, stirring until smooth. Spread evenly over the caramel layer.
  4. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form, then spread over the chocolate layer. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.
  5. Slice into squares and serve chilled, topped with additional whipped cream if desired.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
