Description

A festive, buttery shortbread cookie infused with orange zest and almond, dipped in creamy white chocolate and decorated for a starry holiday treat.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips, melted
  • Sliced almonds and orange sprinkles for garnish

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in orange zest and almond extract.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms. Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface and cut into star shapes using a cookie cutter.
  4. Place stars on prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  5. Dip cooled cookies halfway into melted white chocolate, then garnish with sliced almonds and orange sprinkles. Let set before serving.
