Description

A rustic, free-form tart featuring tender spiced pears and a drizzle of golden honey, evoking the warmth and comfort of a countryside kitchen on a misty morning.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 3 ripe pears, cored and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (for sprinkling)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, toss the sliced pears with honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice until evenly coated.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on the prepared baking sheet. Arrange the spiced pear slices in the center, leaving a 2-inch border around the edges.
  4. Fold the edges of the pastry over the pears, pleating as you go. Dot the pears with butter pieces.
  5. Brush the pastry edges with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the pears are tender.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with additional honey if desired.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
