For the Crust:
- 1 (8 oz) wheel of brie cheese
- 1/2 cup shelled pistachios, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup fig jam
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 tablespoon honey
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil for frying
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Slice the brie wheel into 1/2-inch thick rounds.
- Set up a breading station: place flour, beaten egg, and chopped pistachios in three separate shallow dishes.
- Dredge each brie round in flour, then dip in egg, and finally coat evenly with pistachios.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry brie rounds for 1-2 minutes per side until golden and slightly melted inside.
- In a small saucepan, warm fig jam with water and honey over low heat, stirring until smooth.
- Arrange brie rounds on a serving platter and drizzle with the fig jam glaze. Serve immediately.
