Description
A festive and elegant tart featuring a buttery crust, rich salted caramel, crunchy pecans, and a delicate snowflake design.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a food processor, combine flour, cold butter, and granulated sugar until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add egg yolk and pulse until dough forms.
- Press dough evenly into a 9-inch tart pan with removable bottom. Prick bottom with a fork and bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden. Let cool.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream, brown sugar, and butter. Stir until sugar dissolves and mixture thickens, about 10 minutes. Stir in sea salt.
- Arrange pecan halves over the cooled crust in a decorative pattern. Pour salted caramel over pecans, spreading evenly.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until caramel is bubbly. Let cool completely, then dust with powdered sugar using a snowflake stencil before serving.
