Description

A rich, moist chocolate cake infused with zesty orange and warm spices, shaped like a star for a festive touch.

For the Crust:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 large orange, zested and juiced
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a star-shaped cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, combine orange zest, orange juice, vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
