These decadent red velvet cookies with molten chocolate centers are a spooky treat perfect for Halloween.


Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 12 chocolate truffles

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy, then add the egg, vanilla, and red food coloring, mixing until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
  5. Scoop 2 tablespoons of dough and flatten, placing a chocolate truffle in the center, then wrap the dough around to seal. Repeat with remaining dough.
  6. Place cookies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until cookies are set but still soft in the center.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
