For the Crust:

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the puff pastry and place it into a square baking dish, pressing it up the sides.
  2. Combine milk, cream, sugar, and cornstarch in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil.
  3. Remove from heat and slowly whisk in the egg yolks and vanilla extract. Pour the custard over the puff pastry and bake for 30 minutes or until golden and set.
